2016 - 2017
Qatar University, College of Pharmacy (CPH), launched its 2016-2017 Continuing Professional Development of Health Care Practitioners (CPD-HCP) program on November 15th 2016 at the new College of Medicine (CMED) premises in Qatar University. The activity attracted over 100 healthcare professionals and was attended by Dr. Mohammed Issam Diab, the Dean of the College of Pharmacy. This event was the first in a series of events scheduled for this cycle of Continuing Professional Development Program.
Dr. Nadir Kheir, Coordinator of the CPD-HCP program of the College of Pharmacy, welcomed participants and highlighted the most important achievements of the CPD-HCP program that took place throughout the past years; including the renewal of the dual accreditations of the program and its Vision and Mission. The CPD-HCP program Coordinator presented the 2016-2017 academic year calendar, which will cover a range of topics of interest to healthcare professionals, including, but not limited to, Drugs in Sport, Diabetes Management, Health Literacy Skills, and Drug Interactions.
Dr. Nadir and Dr. Tanya Kane (Assistant Professor; College of Medicine-Qatar University) then delivered a session about principles of professional ethics in healthcare. The talk, and case studies, emphasized the importance of ethical principles, specifically patient autonomy, justice, confidentiality, beneficence, and non-maleficence in the provision of healthcare. The session presented a structured approach that healthcare workers could use when confronted with ethical dilemmas, and the activity was conducted in an interactive and stimulating environment.

The second CPD activity is scheduled on 5th Dec 2016 at the CMED and is entitled:’ Drugs in Sports II’.
