We shop online. We work online. We play online. We live online. As our lives increasingly depend on digital services, the need to protect our information from being maliciously disrupted or misused is really important. Recognising this, cyber security has become a national priority for countries across the gulf region and empowering users with Cyber Security knowledge to make the most of the available technology is a key part of national and regional cyber security strategies.

Project Background

These free online courses, which aim to raise awareness of cyber security issues across the gulf region, were developed by the KINDI Center for Computing Research at Qatar University and the Open University (UK).  The project was supported by the UK Global Cyber Security Capacity Building Programme and builds on the successful course, Introduction to Cyber Security, to produce customized Arabic versions that address the needs of commercial organizations and the general public. The Introduction to Cyber Security course was developed with the support of the UK National Cyber Security Programme and has been completed by over 20,000 learners across the globe. The project was initiated with a stakeholder workshop that took place on 7-8 June 2015 at Qatar University. Click here for more information about the workshop.
